Camera setup
Good coaching starts with a good view. Five minutes here makes every shot after it more reliable.
Where to put the camera
- In front of you, facing your chest. When you shoot, your body faces the camera and only your head turns toward the target. That way it sees both arms: your bow arm and your draw arm.
- About 3 to 4 meters away, roughly at shoulder height.
- Your whole body in the picture, including your bow and both arms stretched out. If your hands or head are cut off at full draw, move the camera back.
- Light in front of you, not behind you. A bright window behind you makes you a silhouette. Avoid flickering lights.
- Keep the camera still. If it moves, calibrate again.
Choose your camera
Any webcam works, including a laptop's built-in one. A USB webcam on a tripod is easier to place and gives a sharper picture.
- Go to SETTINGS and open Camera.
- Pick your camera from the Camera: list. Cameras show up by their real name.
- Plugged it in after opening the app? Click the ⟳ button to scan again.
If the list only says “Camera 0 (none detected)”, Windows can't find a camera. See troubleshooting.
Camera Resolution
Choose from 640x480 (the default), 1280x720 or 1920x1080. The form analysis works just as well at 640x480 and it is the fastest. A higher resolution mainly gives you a sharper replay, if your PC keeps up.
AI Quality
After changing AI Quality, restart the app.
Calibrate with a T-pose
Calibration teaches OpticArchery your size and where you stand, so it can judge your form correctly. You do it once per archer, and again whenever the camera moves. As Guest it isn't kept, so calibrate each time you open the app.
- Make sure the right archer is selected under USER.
- Stand on your shooting spot, facing the camera.
- Press Calibrate camera (or C). An orange T-shape appears on the screen.
- Stretch both arms straight out to the sides, like a T.
- Follow the messages under the video until it says “Perfect! Hold still...”, then hold still for about two seconds.
- When it says “Done!”, you're calibrated. An orange STAND HERE box marks your spot.
To stop halfway, press Cancel calibration. Calibration is saved with the archer: next time you select them, the app says “Calibration restored.” If the camera has moved since, calibrate again.
Check before you shoot
On LIVE ANALYSIS, the BEFORE YOU START card shows whether everything is ready: CAMERA shows the resolution and frame rate, and STANCE should say “Calibration ready”.
