Your data, kept simple

OpticArchery is built to keep your data with you. Your shooting stays on your own PC, this site doesn't track you, and if you subscribe we only keep what's needed for your license. Here's the plain version.

Who is responsible

Daan Van Gijsegem, a sole trader based in Antwerp, Belgium, enterprise and VAT number BE 1035.264.667, is responsible for your data on this site and in OpticArchery. Contact: contact@opticsystems.be.

Your shots stay on your PC

OpticArchery runs on your own computer. Your shot videos, scores and archer profiles are stored there and nowhere else. The live camera picture is analyzed on your PC and never sent anywhere. Nothing about your shooting is uploaded, ever.

This website

The site doesn't ask for your details, has no account to create, and uses no advertising or tracking cookies. It is hosted by Combell in Belgium, which keeps standard server logs (such as IP addresses) for security and to keep the site running.

The download

The installer is hosted by Keygen, the license service we use, so clicking Download fetches the file from their servers. Like any download, that request carries your IP address and browser details.

Buying a subscription

Subscriptions are sold by Creem (Armitage Labs OÜ, Estonia), our merchant of record. Creem handles the payment, your billing details, VAT and your invoice. We never see your card details.

Creem shares with us what we need to give you your license and help you: your name and email address, your country, and your order and subscription details (plan, status and renewal dates). How Creem itself handles your data is in Creem's privacy notice.

Your license

When you subscribe, we create a license for you with Keygen, our license service. The license record holds your email address, your Creem order and subscription numbers, and the status and end date of your subscription. Keygen LLC is based in the United States and stores this data on servers in the USA, under Keygen's data processing terms, which use the EU's standard contractual clauses for transfers outside the EU.

Activating the app sends your license key, a scrambled ID for your computer (so the license is tied to that one PC) and your computer's name, so we can tell your PCs apart if you ever need help. To keep your subscription up to date, the app checks your license with Keygen whenever your computer is online, sending your license key and that scrambled ID. If you deactivate a computer to move your license, the app sends the same two once more to release it. Training with OpticArchery itself needs no internet.

Update checks

When your PC happens to be online, the app may quietly ask Keygen whether a newer version exists. It doesn't send anything about you or your shooting. If you click Get the update, the app downloads the installer from Keygen, which like any download carries your IP address, and it asks you before installing anything.

Emails

If you subscribe, we email you your license key and important messages about your subscription, such as a price change. We don't send newsletters unless you ask for them.

If you email us, we use your message and address only to answer you and to help with your subscription. Our mail is hosted by Combell in Belgium.

We never

Sell your data, share it with anyone for their own use, use advertising trackers, or upload your shooting.

Why we may use it

Your license, the emails about it and the online license checks are needed to provide the subscription you bought (performing our contract with you). Server logs, update checks and answering your emails rest on our legitimate interest in keeping the site and app secure, working and supported. We keep payment-related records where the law requires it.

How long we keep it

Emails with us: 6 months after our last message, or 6 months after your subscription ends if that's later. Your license record: while you're subscribed, and for 6 months after your subscription ends, so we can help if you come back or have a question about a payment. Creem keeps payment and invoice records as long as the law requires it to.

Your rights

Under EU data-protection law (GDPR) you can ask us what we hold about you, correct it, have it deleted, get a copy, limit how we use it, or object to how we use it. Just email us and we'll take care of it. If you're not happy with how we handle your data, you can also complain to the Belgian Data Protection Authority (dataprotectionauthority.be).
